This band are surreal and about the only music I know that really does take you to another planet.

Comfortably Numb is just so good

The Division Bell is a superb album.

Comfortably numb live (pulse or delicate sound of thunder albums) is awesome. Get Pulse on DVD if you can....superb viewing

I think Meddle is vastly underrated.

"Obscured by Clouds" is a real gem that doesn't get the credit it deserves, the title track is pure genius.

Did you see the film it came from? Very weird.

I liked The Division Bell, which showed they weren't only Roger Waters' band, and they could write great music without him as well.

Their first EVER live performance of Dark Side Of The Moon was at Brighton Dome. Fact.

typical NMH bullshit,

PARTS of 8 songs evolved into dark side(roger waters recycled LOADS of tunes throughout his floyd career and evolved different versions..check out pros and cons and the final cut) and the dome gig was a complete fiasco due to power failures and dodgy tape decks.
i guess you wernt there and read this bolllox somewhere.

the first proper run of the music that evolved into dark side was portsmouth the next night.
and despite the waters influenced relative quality of the songs on momentary lapse the division bell provided conclusive proof that gilmour cant write

Doesn't sound as though you've listened to an awful lot of music then! Throw out your New Seekers and Peters and Lee and get with it BH!!

Aussie Pink Floyd are touring again this year. April 2nd at Brighton Centre. IMHO one of the best tribute bands ever to exist. Went to see them last year, and if you shut your eyes, they are just about good enough to imagine they are the real thing. I shall certainly be going again this year.

Do you always talk so completely out of your arsehole?

I was there, the PREVIOUS gig had the power failure some months before on their previous tour and they ended up playing acoustically - which is why they promised Brighton Dome that they'd make us FIRST on the next tour.

http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/concert-dates/1972-tour-dates-concerts-2.html

The band did a 50-odd minute first set, preceded by about 10 minutes of tapes of various people talking, clocks ticking, and swooshing sounds as the lights were dimmed. The four sets of speakers made it much more interesting of course.
Apparently the tapes did malfunction at OUR show, only to the point that some of the extra effects and pre-recorded voices had to be done-without - and probably some of 'On The Run', though of course we would not have known what we missed there.

After an interval of around 45 minutes, they came back and played a regular, full length set - after which I gathered two drumsticks and 4 autographs. Dave Gilmour was under his MG trying to fix something when I went to get his, so I waited.

Now run along and learn something before you gob off to someone who knows a whole lot better than you do northstandnorth

Just listened to a live Comfortably Numb from the Aussie Floyd, from their website link. Bloody excellent - I think I may go and see them now.
