'It is what it is'.

What does that mean? Just accept it as it can't be changed? Why can't we change it? How do you know it can't be changed? Have you tried to change it?

Show and tell, something kids do at school aged 5.
Not heard of a few you have mentioned.

"Pop" as in "Pop into town", "Pop this into your mouth", "Pop along and see Mildred" (nothing against Mildred's per se you understand)

You must love GP interviews then. Its his go-to (preceded with a little shrug and a suck of the teeth).

"So Graham, no goals in the last 3 games in open play, no wins, and Liverpool at the weekend. How do you build for that ?"

Hsssshhhh...it is what it is

If you can change it, and do so, then it won't be what it is any more. But just at the moment, whether changeable or not, it is... errm . what it is!

Yes, you're right. A GP interview is what it is (not all that revealing), but it also isn't what it isn't (revealing). I suppose we can't expect a lot else really.

Not a phrase, just when people go up an octave when saying the last word which makes every sentance sound like a question.
They do it all the time here and it is annoying.

'I'll just double check that for you'

Why? Are you going to check it twice then? If you check it properly the first time, you won't have to check it twice will you?

"Lessons learned" - this normally gets fired off by the PR department when there has been a massive f*** up / embarrassing press story / etc to attempt to somehow get the company off the hook. It's become such a cliché and normally within a year or so a similar event occurs again proving the exact opposite.

Bloody Worthing!
'Re-double' as in 're-doubling our efforts'. Almost meaningless in that it's impossible to quantify. Popular with certain politicians who want to appear to be on the case. Trust no-one who uses this term. (Unless they are playing contract bridge, where the term has a precise meaning.)
