Summer of 78 and 79 I worked on the deck chairs. Did all the pitches except the pier.
The topless (and occasionally bottomless :ohmy: ) female 'scandi' students on West Street beach were a bit of a distraction.
Do I know you?
During the summer the deckchair guys would bring us their change for notes. I would give you a mars bar or ice cream. Back then the shop was called Pebbles on Kings Road.

That's interesting. I don't ever recall doing that. I remember the converse, being short of change because of people paying using notes.
We all got our mugs in the Argus one summer when we went on strike.
One of the lads in the photo was a philosophy student who, shortly after, leapt to his death off the cliffs at Saltdean holding an alarm clock.
