Dear all,

I shot a fair few pictures yesterday and was going to post a selection later. It's the first time I've really posted pictures on NSC and I wanted some advice on a point of order.

Quite a few pictures involve people. Is there an embargo on putting pictures of anybody up without their permission? Suppose they were bunking off work? Or at the match with a significant, yet secret, other?

Thoughts please. Pics to follow pending advice and vote.

Post them.... and if anyone really objects, then remove individual photos, but I can't see that it should be a big deal... there were TV and press photographers there after all - and they wouldn't ask!

There was some 'trouble' of one guy who just took photos of the people on purpose, but if they are not the intended target no one will care, you do agree to be photographed by entering the stadium.

I was a touch worried about that. I do tend to stick my camera straight at people for a more documentary style shot. Mind you, I don't think I've taken anything too objectionable. It's not as though anybody is giving Nazi salutes or anything.

There are posters just waiting to be offended and contrary about anything and everything, this is NSC after all.

Post them anyway and ignore any shit that follows :)

Even in that short while that seems a pretty clear vote. I'll put them up. Have to finish the edits and resize everything so it will be a while. Cheers folks.

post them, the people you captured who would love pictures of them at the crowd FAR outweigh those who shouldn't have been there

If there are any that make me look older or fatter than I already am, you'll be hearing from my solicitor.

It didn't stop Martinf at the spurs game.
Fine by me but I don't fancy his chances if the wife gets hold of him.

Put the pictures up. I work on the grounds that I'd deal with any reasonable objections if and when the situation arose. As it happens, I've yet to have any problems despite taking the occasional snap...

PS. Be prepared for people to download your images and re-use them. If this is an issue, watermark them and use some sort of image protection. I'm easy going about this since it's commercial copyright theft I concentrate my energies on. As for the poll, be cautious about inviting people to just "point your camera at the pitch". If you have a decent camera you can expect to be dissuaded from this.

They're all up now...

Thanks for tip. I have copyrighted occasionally but I'm happy to share all of these. It was a special day and if these help anybody hang on to the memories then fill your boots.

Some excellent pictures, there. Really evocative stuff.

Incidentally (this is me being a copyright pedant) you own the copyright to ALL your images. Automatically. That's not to say that they aren't for sharing, just that the creator of any image (provided you aren't a staff snapper) owns the copyright unless assigned elsewhere. This regardless of whether you put a copyright statement on them.
