Does anybody know of a way you can find out the location of a caller by the phone number ?
Eg. if i wanted to know whose number is 01273 111111, how can I find out who the caller is without ringing the number ?

There used to be reverse searchable databases commercially available, which means there is probably a hooky one out there somewhere on t'net, but they were banned some time ago so are probably out of date by now.

Find someone who works in BT, bribe them to break their confidentiality agreement. Oneview (main BT CRM) will give you the name and address at least of any phone number run across the BT network, listed or unlisted.

I don't think there is any legit way of doing it short of calling them back and pretending to be someone else or a research company or something. IIRC there were data protection issues over the reverse searchable database which was why it was eventually banned.
