Yup. TV and Radio shows get in trouble for it, and are always quick to apologise for any slip ups.
Does seem silly. I think it may have religious connotations.

I thought he was corporate, lacking in passion and exactly the type of Yes man the BBC are looking for.
Harty may have made the odd booboo, but he was from the terraces and one of us, rather than a JCL faceless bland robot.
