Bassist with Greatful Dead.

Somehow, I have managed to never hear a single track by this band. Ever.

But I understand how important they are to many. RIP.

I saw Phil Lesh play 88 times with the Dead and a few times with various Dead & Co shows. He was formally trained in orchestral music but became a phenomenal bassist for the seminal jam band. Many great memories of his rib-shaking bass playing… nice tribute tonight at the Empire State Building

RIP. Saw them 25 times between 86-92, and later with Dead&co. Unique bassist and band, hard to get unless you have seen them live.
He is missed.
Lucky you! I think the number of legit bootlegs of gigs gives a flavour, but my one experience was singular from well before the Dead started playing. Definitely missed.

Then why call them the “Greatful Dead”?

Amazing! Thanks everyone, I had no idea that there would have been any other Deadheads on NSC.
I saw them 12 times between 1970 and 1990, in the UK and the US, inspirational and magical music.
This is Phil with a rare lead vocal.
