Why not?? Carsley would do the Kish role of last season perfectly, he has had a great career and whilst he's not the box to box midfielder he once was he can anchor and sit and offer a great deal of experience. Davis is just the sort of big strong impreious defender we're looking for, at 32 he's still got a lot of football in him. Rory Fallon is a proven international striker, a great player to have on the bench and bring on for his selfless running and hold up play when you're trying to hold onto a lead.

Well, Kish would do the Kish role of last season perfectly if that was the level we are aiming at wouldn't he! Carsley is 37 and not considered worthy of a contract at Cov so why with us? Not saying he wasn't once a decent player but we have to be looking for better, surely? Davis is also not considered worthy of a contract at Palace and is he any better than what we have? Again, we have to aim higher. Fallon is League 1 standard at best. NZ aren't exactly blessed with a plethora of quality strikers are they.

The list also highlights the predicament that many footballers find themselves in when out of contract. And as much as I want Murray to stay, I can understand his need to maximise his earnings, as a couple of poor seasons with a new club or us and he could be on that very list in two or three seasons time.

Quite. Take one Mr K McLeod for example. Still clubless, poor guy

Probably because he's not yet a free agent. Most contracts expire on June 1st to accomodate the play-offs. I would expect he'll be on there on June 2nd

Think you will find all contracts expire on the 30th June and unless they are a short term contract when it would be at the end of the fixed period.

Rory Fallon wasn't much cop for Plymouth last season, no way good enough for the Championship.

Shame to see Anyinsah released. Not one for us obviously, but I'd think he should find another League 1 club without too much problem.

Anyinsah HASN'T been released. In fact, of the TEN players from Charlton listed as free transfers only TWO have been released (Stavinrou, Tuna). The other eight are out of contract on June 30th, and as such free to talk to other clubs re a free transfer. Most of the eight (not sure about Anyinsah) have been offered new contracts on reduced terms, and are considering other offers alongside ours.

Curious that Glenn Murray isn't listed if he's out of contract on June 30th too. Similarly, two of our June free agents (Kyel Reid and Ross Worner) aren't listed either. I can only assume all three have signed (or nearly signed) deals for next season already, be it with their current club or someone else.

EDIT: Whilst I was posting this, Ross Worner was added to the PFA list. I guess that list is a work in progress and they're adding names as they get them (eg once they get confirmation from a player's agent that he wants to be on the list).

He was paid off from West Ham for not being able to lose weight and gain match fitness. Not sure a championship move would inspire him to do what he couldn't do in the Premiership.

Flahavan had the chance to sign for us a couple of seasons ago but failed to turn up when selected to play against Arundel pre season so that puts him out. Benni McCarthy is an overweight lumbering oaf so wouldnt want him. Realistically there arn't many on that list that I would drool over but would like to see Gus give a trial to Jeremy Alidiere to see if he can still do it.

I looked at that that list and think at least 20 players could make up a good championship team and I would like to sign them all shame we aren't going to coz some of them are quality!!!

I think this really is a great website for us to generate some serious talk on. Interesting to see Baz and Batti on there, thought they were going back to Argentina?

Big - Yes, Strong - Maybe, impreious - Dunno what that means. But the worst 'footballer' I have ever seen. Head like a 50p piece and toblerone shaped boots. Generally referred to as Claude the Clown at Pride Park....

I think the players are added to the list when clubs announce that they are not being kept on, like we did with Baz and Batti etc as they are on the list already but their contracts would run until June 1st. So I doubt the list would suddenly get bigger just because it's June 2nd.

Glenn Murray is a slightly different case because we've not announced we are releasing him, we have offered him a new deal and he's also in talks with other clubs, chances are he'll never be on the list.

Totally contradicting my post a few posts up, it's now been confirmed (by himself on Twitter) that Joe Anyinsah HAS been released. Charlton didn't even offer him a new contract. He's only on £1k a week. We don't know what we're doing...
