When I lived in Epsom and then the pub in Guildford (80s) we had a labrador we called Sully after my favourite Albion player Peter O Sullivan, not that he would have liked being called a dog, I shouldnt think.

We have also had dogs called whisky, Brandy and Remy for obvious reasons.

Right here, right now
Our dog is called Ozzy, after Peter Osgood - my all time footballing hero.

The wife didn't realise that was why I chose the name, hence it is spelt Ozzy rather than Ossie!

My late dog was called Boomer after Cincinnati Bengals QB Boomer Esiason.

That's a good shout too actually, as it works on TWO levels, BUT as he's not really of my era (i.e. I don't remember seeing him play) I think Cafu has to edge it.

I like Crumplin too, that's an ace name for a moggy

Crumplin is a great name

when calling at night you might call "Crumpers"

joking apart I hope you are getting him/her from a rescue?

I got a cat the day before we signed Bobby Zamora permanently, and named him Zamora.
Eventually that was too much of a mouthful, so he`s now known as Bobby or Bob.

If you're feline defensively minded, how about Catenaccio?
