The forecasts are now for heavy rain Monday and early Tuesday... it all depends on how well the new drainage copes and when on Tuesday the rain stops... the only complication is the fact that there might be some snow on the bacjk edge of the front as the low pushes off South East!!

This morning after all the overnight rain, there is a steady stream of water flowing from the South Stand ticket booths right down to London Road under the railway arch. Great conditions for a POOHSTICK race.

The pitch is looking terrible too

The latest forecasts seem to be suggesting that the heaviest rain is going to our north, but we can still expect in excess of an inch of rain today. The possible saving grace is that the heaviest stuff should be out of the way by tomorrow morning, so perhaps there is time for it to drain away.

3 inches of rain in 24 hours always makes Withdean unplayable.

I'm just questioning whether there is a real likelihood of this happening. On the basis of the information source that I've found to be very reliable over the past ten days, I see no reason at this stage to be seriously expecting that amount of rain.

But as you say, things change.
This is the latest from my favourite reliable source:-

I read that as a 60 per cent chance of an inch of rain falling today and the same chance of it happening again tomorrow.

The game could be wet, but looks likely to go ahead.

Albion groundsman Steve Winterburn is hopeful the Seagulls can avoid a hat-trick of postponements.

He is optimistic tomorrow night's re-arranged clash against Peterborough at Withdean will survive the weather.

"At the moment the forecast is for rain and sleet," said Winterburn. "If that stays as it is then I don't think there will be any problems.

"The pitch is draining well, even after the rainfall this morning.

"You never know, the weather could turn at any time, but hopefully we will get the game in before it freezes up."

The Peterborough match was snowed off last Tuesday and Albion's scheduled visit to Hereford on Saturday suffered the same fate.

The floodlights have turned on at Withdean, and the pitch is UNCOVERED, the penalty area closest to the family stand is submerged under water, and the running track by A block is also under a massive puddle

Guaranteed the ground underfoot at the turnstiles will be about six inches deep already and that there will be a veritable TORRENT of water running through the railway tunnel.

May as well consider it called off.
