I know there's a few fans out there on NSC (one person has even named himself after one of his characters).

His latest Roy Grace whodunnit novel - once again set in Brighton, starting with a murder at the Metropole Hotel - 'Dead Like You' is out today.

Bloody marvellous - can't wait to get this one... :clap2:

Abort, retry, fail
I was a member of the Young Sussex Archaeological Society, for my sins, and we did some digging around his house. My parents are/were good friends of his. I have a signed book, The Alchemist. Didn't get into that, but I do like the Roy Grace novels. Not exactly Shakespeare, but the plots are good and it is nice to have a recognisible scenery.

I bought two of his books for an elderly relative at Christmas. He loved them.

I heard him on the BBC Sussex one monday morning late last year (lives in Lewes?), which in turn made me go out and buy some of his books. TV series also in production I hear.

Going by my personal sliding scale, I'd hate this.
So for the 2nd time, I'll be giving it a miss.

Juts finished reading the Grace series for the second time... great stuff and reminds me of home :)

Clayton, I think.

There was talk of a film with Bassinger, but I am not sure what has happened to that.

Think she would be a little old to play the part of the lovely Cleo. What happened to the rumoured TV series?

Being a tight wad I will await my name to come to the top of the list at the library to see if I appear in it and am given credit for my unique crime fighting skills!

When I heard him at a talk last year, he said Granada were interested in dramatising the books.

He specifically wanted Brighton to be portrayed as seedy and down-at-heel using all of the city as a backdrop, not just the usual omnipresent 'establishing shots' of the sea, the pier, the beach etc.

These things take yonks to negotiate. How far Granada would allow that kind of licence, gawd knows.

But hey, it's ITV, expect to see Ross Kemp as Roy Grace...

Incidentally, I was there earlier this week, and if I'd stuck around until Friday (which I didn't), I could have heard Peter James talking at the Hay Literary Festival.

I heard him talk at my gf's graduation last summer when he was given an homourary degree. He seemed WELL nice and had a slight jonathan Ross-type speech impediment.

I have read all of them up to last year's one which is already packed in my suitcase for my holiday. Perfect holiday reading.
Unlike a lot of authors (James Patterson being a notorious example) his books seem to get better

I can't help but imagine Roy Grace as Gene Hunt when I'm reading these.
Ditch the northern accent and I reckons its a PERFECT character fit.

Looking forward to reading this one, I enjoyed the Roy Grace novels so much that I've been working my way through the rest of his back catalogue, some cracking reads.
