High up on the South Downs.
I found the Sheffield tram incident amusing when Mr Canning started up an almost operatic version of his Bright Eyes Brighton song. This so infuriated two Wednesday burberry boys that they tried to get to the back of the tram, gave up, got off the front of the tram and then tried to persuade Pete to get off the tram and fight. At which point the tram set off again stranding the chavsters.

Oh the Canning Chronicles are fast gathering pace, more I say, more

I only know him vaguely from when he attends games in Reading and I meet some of you for a beer or three but there was the greaat incident where he turned up in Reading with ihs face smashed up covered in blood. Having fallen over on the way home the night previously he had spent the night in A&E then promptly checked himself out to go to Reading wearing the same clothes he'd been wearing in A&E the previous night. Then he drank a lot and wasn't let into the reading stadium iirc so he pretended to be a red cross person and sneaked in anyway.

Does he still want to "shake hands" at every opportunity?

We used to call him "Shake hands" Pete.

Happy Birthday Pete. I have a photo on my phone which I must get round to downloading from Attila's bus ride when we arrived at Southwick.

My story is from Nottingham station coming home from our Forest game 16 months ago. He walked up to me (I was standing with my husband) put his hand in my hand and asked me if I would get him home safely.
I said I would. :)

Happy Birthday to one of the VERY few people out there who not only supports BHAFC but also both England and Celtic - what a combination!!:drink:

I had an early drink or 2 with him today. hopefully there'll be some stories later.

He'll not be at Port Vale though.

I happy to report that the great man must have survived his birthday drinking session as I received a text from him this morning.

Another story for the Canning Chronicles is the tale of his back flip from the top of a flight of stairs in Dublin, landing in a heap at the bottom, when we were out there for a tour in the 80's. Not many can say they've narrowly survived death by flying taxman :D

If I had a pound for everytime I have seen him go up to a random female and say "You've got beautiful eyes" I'd be a very rich man indeed.
