That represents decent progress for a club that has had to rebuild virtually from scratch.

Setbacks are inevitable – in football, as in life – but if the fundamentals are in place then they can be weathered successfully and mistakes can become opportunities.

Just because you spout bullshit over and over again, doesn't make it true. Most true fans don't believe Gus' tactics were perfect but we also know they were far from negative and boring most of the time, especially once we signed Ulloa but don't let the truth get in the way of your rants.

Its how the way our manager handle himself since the play offs and this during this season.

No, it's club policy to let players/staff speak to other clubs if they meet the fee that we want.

Agreed. The Blackpool game at the Amex, for example, was particularly boring. Only 6-1.

The football we have been playing has been fantastic. I just hope it continues under Gus's successor.

Brighton need to get a decent youth set up. The way to be sustainable at this level is to produce your own talent.

Glad to see that I'm not the only one whose glass is half full. My take is this:

1. The most important duty of the chairman is to appoint the right manager. Whether it's a similar minded successor to Gus (eg. Di Matteo), or a successful up and coming manager (eg. Rossler or Solskjaer), or someone we haven't even thought of, or even Gus Poyet....... I've every confidence in Tony Bloom to get it right. He did pretty well last time!

2. The manager will have a good core of players, with some freedom to sign new ones following the release of Vicente, Dicker and Painter, and the return of Hammond, Upson and Bridge. This time last year we were fretting about whether we would get Joe Mattock, but then we signed Bridge. If we don't get Bridge this time, we'll get another good left back. Oh, and we'll have Ulloa from the start!

And finally, for those who care about how we do against 'that lot', we may have lost to them in the play offs, but we are a better side than them. Catch one of their genuine fans in a moment of honesty, and they'll even admit that they were very surprised to beat us. We finished above them for the second consecutive year, and assuming Watford play to their best on Monday week, I'm pretty sure we'll do so again next year.
