Anyone know when the Egyptian xfer window closes? From the few news reports I read about this it seemed it may be before August 31 but I saw no specific date.

The Egyptian Premier League is still playing out their 2020-21 season, due to Covid delaying the start of their season and then a month long delay for the Olympics due to the number of players from the top clubs going to the games to represent Egypt. They are currently playing every weekend and mid-week to finish the season at the end of August. Therefore I expect their transfer window to remain open after the European one closes as they get ready for the start of the 2021-22 season.

Am I missing something?

Percy has provided much more in the limited time he's been given, compared to Connolly and Zeqiri. Yet we're shipping him out when he's shown he's got the quality and the attributes needed.

Neither have gone yet, and of course that would be for one season. I would suggest the club has their eye on the long-term
The fact that Khadra is moving to Blackburn now as part of his developmet plan clearly shows that he, at least, s not being blocked by Tau. No link between the two departures (assuming Tau actually does go).

The fact he walks away on a free next summer.

Has he?

Connolly scored twice on his full PL debut against Spurs. Tau scored against Luton.

As for Zeqiri, he's been played at LWB.

Obviously the people whose opinions matter don't think he's shown he's got the quality and the attributes needed.

How long ago since that Spurs game? Percy Tau played a lovely through ball on a plate for Welbeck to score against West Ham at the end of last season in one of the rare opportunities he's been given. Zeqiri has been tried up front.

At least Tau has looked dangerous and full of potential.

A 22 year old with potential is fine (especially as he's been mainly played out of position); a 27 year old needs to be past the 'potential' stage.

Sorry, but like it or not, Mamelodi Sundowns' Lion of Judah isn't the Messiah - not as far as playing PL football is concerned anyway.

Well you might as well shut down all football forums if that becomes the stock response.

Somebody posts a question and somebody else posts an answer (that you don'r like) and you think football forums should be shut down? Sheesh!

Looks like the school holidays have well and truly started!

I think he looks lightweight, yes good goal vs Luton, but poor defending by a mid championship side in a nothing friendly.

Apart from 1 or 2 touches, when he's been on in the PL I thought he's always looked lost, jogging about and not really getting stuck in.

Maupay, AC and even Andone give so much more on the pitch. They might or might not have the skills for the PL, but they generally give 100% effort.

GP et Al see Tau day in day out on the training pitch and if they don't think he's up for it then I'll bow to their knowledge and observations

Thought he could have had a decent career around mid-table in The Netherlands sort of standard - know idea about Egyptian domestic footbal, but if they're paying him a decent wage (and some sort of fee - probably not very much - for us!) and he becomes a bit of a fans' favourite, I hope it works out OK for him.
