Barcelona were in something like their 6th consecutive semi final. It is an incredible record. For anyone to suggest their style of play, or what have you is some kind of failure because of one season after 3 La Liga titles in a row, and 2 champions league victories needs their friggin heads testing! All this "they haven't got a Plan B" is irrelevant really when considering the success they've had.

They're entitled to a tough season I'd say, but I can't honestly see how anyone can criticise them too much. They've had more success than any other European Club has had as an individual team for decades playing the way they play. I hope they stick with it. It's fantastic when they are on song.

You are mixing my words, I said that their move to a formation without any strikers, and only 3 defenders hasn't been as effective as when they had the likes of Henry and Eto'o in their team providing two strong striking options. Guardiola got too obsessed with the ticky tacky and not sticking it in the back of the net. This is evidence by their away form this season.

Saying well they've won a lot in the past is all well and good but I wouldn't be suprised if their era was on the wain. Well, now that Guardiola has gone maybe they can get someone in that prioritises sticking the ball into the onion bag rather than pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass from one touch line to the next.

Barcelona should appoint Bielsa, and tell him to bring Lorente with him.

I don't think he chose for Villa to be injured, did he? Also I'm pretty confident they've won the majority of their recent trophies with Messi, Villa and Pedro upfront, not Eto'o and Henry.

No but having one recognised out and out striker is ridiculous.

They should have more strength in depth in that area, yes, but to suggest that winning 13 out of 16 possible trophies is anything other than AMAZING, is daft.

Where did I say that?

Just seems you're not really giving them due credit for how they've done recently. You seem to be making out as if they're a busted flush, which is obviously bollocks.

If Barca had Llorente and perhaps Iker Muniain (another Athletic player with some SERIOUS potential) they'd be nigh-on unstoppable.

Just Llorente, for me. He is the only thing they are lacking.

I read an interesting question on twitter last night;

Imagine how different the Premier League table might look, if Liverpool had used their £35m to buy Llorente instead of Carroll.

Well you said to me: "Saying well they've won a lot in the past is all well and good but I wouldn't be suprised if their era was on the wain."

When you say 'past' we are talking 11 months ago when they secured the La Liga / Champions League (runner up in the Copa del Rey), 4 months ago when they won the World Club cup...

They've basically had a bad month in 7 years of football, and suddenly on they're on the wain. Extraordinary.

Indeed. And the simple fact is, if Messi's penalty had been six inches lower, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.

I do find it astonishing that suddenly their style is wrong, they've no plan B, etc. etc. when to be honest, they have sustained one of the most dominant periods in European football since Real Madrid at the end of the '90's, Milan at the end of the '80's and Liverpool & Munich in the '70's. There is no doubt that winning 3 out of 6 in the Champions League era is amazing.

I'm not even sure Messi's pen needed 6", I reckon 2" and it's coming down off the bar behind the line! His shot off the post, maybe that needed 6"....

Barca would still be going out but to add to your list of hypothetical situations.

Or if Fabregas hadn't taken a dive.

Or if Fabregas had scored from point blank range in the first leg.

Or if Barca had kept a player back on the half way line.

Football, innit.

Ultimately, the Barca team under the Guardiola era will go down as one of the, if not THE best club side of all time.

Lol Barca had to score as they where going out on away goal rule they sent all there players up with a few mins to go any team does this needing a result? They lost the ball it was hit up to Torres who controlled beautifully then he was away. It happens, on paper they have the best side in the world, people will be saying after the final that England and Germany are best league in the world when if ya look at styles of play etc.... Spain pisses any league, teams have bad spells dont mean there going down hill.
