Another vote for Portillo. He genuinely seems to like people and be interested in their welfare now.

He's the only person on this thread that I've actually met (on a couple of occasions) and he actually is a very pleasant bloke when you talk to him ... and I'm certainly no Tory

Micky Flanagan. He’s actually quite hilario.

Very funny man. He’s done some good radio and tv documentaries. At first I thought he was a “geezer comedian” but he’s very bright and sharp. I think he’s a bit tapped too, which makes him funnier.

Major's government was repeatedly mired in sleeze and scandals - even more so than the Tory shambles that exists now - it was the main reason Blair was able to win the election in 1997

you got that arse about face, he was/is a decentish chap, regardless of his underlings carry on

Major was an incompetent leader, completely out of his depth, rightly turfed out after one term.

An excellent C4 doc circa 2000 covered his PM years, the sulking, the melancholy in hiding himself away.

These days he wheels himself out for the cameras as if his ‘grandee’ status makes his opinion more worthy than any of ours.

Ricky Gervais.

The Office remains divine, Extra’s is rather amusing, Life Is Short was short on laughs, his other offerings are all a bit mawkish, over the top and unsubtle for my tastes. That’s his output. The man himself seems to be a really quite tedious little man. All false modesty and 6th form philosophy. He used to seem like quite a laugh. I’m sure he’s a nice guy to those around him but he comes across as very unlikeable these days.

The Golden Globes’ he hosted were as much in praise of himself as taking the mick of Hollywood’s great and good.
