Quite a few of the endings to the World at War narrated by Lawence Olivier. One of the last ones he was talking about the japs getting prepared for the Invasion and said something along the lines....but the end would arrive in a different form...irrisistible, unimaginable...mushroom shaped.

Actually had to rewind it a few times just to listen again....

Good choice, that series really is quite incredible.

What about women, chaps? ???

Women whose voices make them sound devilishly attractive, even if in reality they look like the back end of a bus?

Well there's the beautiful Glaswegian-Asian Asma Mir - who co-hosts the Drive programme on 5Live. And the brilliant Fi Glover on Radio 4...

<whispery voice> This is not just a thread. This is a late night, pseudo-pornographic, North Stand Chat thread, sprinkled with mellifluous celebrity voices to soothe your weary minds into restful sleep.

Neil Oliver has a west coast of Scotland accent as well - not Edinburgh.

I stand corrected. Either way, he sounds LOVELY.

Looks like an arse, mind, but sounds lovely.

Cant remember her name, but the miserable newsreader woman with a face like thunder who they always send to every war or natural disaster in the world , i can imagine her just opening her job for the day envolope and its a withdean matchday summary and her icy stare and id rather be back in kabul retort

You want women, Edna? Okay. Shirley Williams (articulate, reasoned, mellifluous, even now), Fi Glover (wonderful voice, face made for radio). Also on Five Live, Rachel Burden (whose 50-a day tones suggest the kind of lifestyle for which the word 'rumpled' was surely invented)

John Peel (RIP) a broadcaster with a rare skill, when you listened to him on the radio it seemed like he was talking to you directly and not all the other people listening to the show.

Sandrine Violett, watched a show presented by her about Paris, it felt like I was being seduced, others have commented on different accents being sexy, the French one does it for me.
