Players, managers, backroom staff, etc that have had their careers ruined by joining Albion (ie. people whose career took / has taken a clear downward trajectory by joining us either with or without any fault of their own).

I'll start:

Sami Hyypia

Hyypia managed Bayer Leverkusen 4th in the Bundesliga in 2013-14, but had extremely poor time at the Amex and resigned after only few months. After that poor job with Zurich. Not managed since.

Strange thread.. are we just making up ways to dig out the club now? :ROFLMAO: Did we ''ruin'' Sami's career or was he simply not good enough? Probably the latter seeing as though he hasnt done anything of note since.

In fairness, he wasn't dealt the best on hands that year. Didn't we have five loanees in the team ?

Dear oh dear. As of the present Albion wasn't depressing enough...
But why is it depressing ? Not had a good second half of the season but that happens to every club. Cheer up mate. These things happen. It's not just about results, it's much more than that.

If I remember correctly the only decent player was Teixeira that season. Loan from Liverpool?
I think he broke his leg in the end. TB sacked the recruitment chap.

There were folk on here calling for PBs head too. Times they do change.

Once again I implore all to look at Sami's first team for the first game that season.

At that point posters will realise just how wrong they are to dig him out.

TB has also openly admitted he made the wrong choice it happens.
I'm sure he has because clearly he did, but giving the wrong man nothing to work with really didn't help.

Right up until 2024 you'd be forgiven for saying 'thankfully that lesson has been well and truly learned'.

There's an implication in the thread title that if people who's careers had been "ruined" by joining the Albion hadn't done so, they would have gone on to have marvellously successful careers. Thus making the club seem toxic and not a great career choice for anyone. That is quite depressing, really, and unfair. Although I appreciate that's probably not what you meant ( I hope).
