Agreed, I got on the tube the other morning and there was a woman on there with a push chair, the sprog in said push chair had a massive stud in each ear. I really hope the woman didn't see my facial expression because it must have been one of shocked disgust.

I guess it's the parents choice, but it's not for me.

And earings on blokes :nono:

I save my most disgusted facial expression for when I see a pregnant woman smoking...don't they know about the damage they might be doing?

Piercing our child's ears is simply a cosmetic enhancement. And whether or not she chooses to wear earrings when she's older, is entirely her decision. We just gave her the option and conveinence of wearing earrings at her discretion without having to recall any painful exeperience every time she wears earrings. ... (I, myself had my ears pierce at the same age and the only time I wore earrings since was on my wedding day. I chose not to, for personal/safety reasons (loren might rip earrings off my ears).

that is the bizarrest logic ive read in a while. you really do have to wonder how some people make it to adult hood.

As a general rule, I'm not a fan of piercings at all, and would sure as hell never get one myself, but at least if I see an adult with a piercing (however stupid I might think it looks), at least I can be fairly sure they've made a conscious choice to get it/wear it, which is fair enough.

Parents who get their childrens' ears pierced don't even allow them to be old enough to make that choice, and that's wrong IMO.

Wait a minute, this is NSC, surely we're not all in agreement here??

Come on, where is the brave parent who will admit to having staple gunned the ears of their poor unwitting offspring?

There must be SOMEONE out there prepared to brave the wrath of NSC with tales of LaToya Charice's first trip to the salon ;)

It's completely wrong. I have a 15 month old. Innoculations are a trauma. The thought of putting a child through something like that for cosmetic reasons disgusts me.

Edna...it is one thing to admit on NSC that you have slept with a Palace fan, driven whilst under the influence, voted for the BNP or cheated on your taxes...etc, etc, etc...but this is probably one subject that nobody is prepared to stick their head above the parapet on...judging by the comments on this thread it would lead to instant vilification and being sent to the NSC version of Coventry.

(apologies in advance to those who live in the vicinity of the Athens of the Midlands, so cruelly flattened by the Luftwaffe)

yeah, but if you've got a f***ing ugly baby there's no harm in trying to spruce it up a bit, is there?

If that is the case then put a bulldog in the pram to keep it company...all things are relative!

Grown up men look so stupid with earings it always makes me laugh, most of the time the think they look 'well ard'.

my main problem with it is it looks f***ing shit + very lower class

And earings on blokes :nono:

adult with a piercing (however stupid I might think it looks),

Oh well..

I got five done (3 in left, 2 in right) between 4th and 5th years at Fawcett, and suprisingly they made me take them out, well all but one.

Have had a single small silver ring in LH ear ever since, forget about it 95% of time, mainly until some knobber points it out saying 'isn't that gay?'

Agreed, its non-consensual pain inflicted on a baby. Its for the aesthetic of the mother and not the child.

I have seen religous circucisions of children as old as six, without anasthetic and not in hospitals(Being held down screaming by their mothers, muslims). True not all were in the UK but i question that they are all done in hospitals.

...and there is the sentence that says it all. A baby as a fashion accessory: sickening in itself, never mind the pain of a piercing.

Yes, we really are all in agreement. Even Looney.

Parents do horrible things to their children, some subtle, some not so subtle, some just plain mean. My brother is called Matt Brown for God's sake. My cousin is called Clover Green. That's as abusive and potentially more damaging rhan having a 1 year old's ears pierced in my view - it's just less obvious from day one.

I had my ear pierced when I was 17 - had various things hanging from it until my g/f (who became my wife) pointed out I looked like a twat. However, at 43 hole still not closed up like the lady from the under-class says it will for her baby.
