I'd say "deserves to die" is a little OTT.

However she is incredibly annoying. BBC South and Meridian TV are so far up her arse they can see her tonsils, and I fail to see why a posh people's minority sport like sailing warrants so much attention on the local news.

The Albion could win the Champions League, but if they did it on the same day as Ellen McArthur cruised around the Isle of Wight on a lilo, we'd be relegated to third spot on the local evening news (also behind Harry Redknapp getting a new Pine Tree air freshener for his Mercedes).

What is really annoying about her is her regular tortured broadcasts from whatever godforsaken ocean she happens to be in currently. It's the same every time:

"Hello everybody [sob], well it's Christmas Day here around Cape Horn [sniffle] and...I'm very very lonely, all on my own....and...it's like...really, well, windy [tearful whimper], and my coat's all wet from the spray, and I'm [wipes tear from cheek] really sick of reconstituted egg powder for every meal, and [sad look to camera] there's like, loads of giant hundred foot waves everywhere...and I feel rotten"

Here's a tip Ellen: I don't know what you're expecting when you leave Southampton on your solo-round-the-world jaunts, but if it isn't big waves, crap food, and gale force winds, perhaps you should take up netball.
