Planes arriving at Gatwick sometimes approach over us and I hate it, I quite understand why people don't want an increase in air traffic and consequent reduction in environmental quality. We will all benefit from the growth won't we? Guess I'll be a protestor for this, again.

So, I win the prize for first protestor. What prize do I get? Abuse, I expect.

new runway is about 500m south, between the current airfield and Crawley, half of which is industrial estate the rest some fields. no doubt some rare newt and bats live in the "unspoiled" farmland.
I recall Toads Hole Valley being home to deer back in the 80’s apparently!

I lived in Crawley for a year.
On a Saturday night in town I was begging for some aircraft noise to drown out all the
"Leave it Sharon, he's not worth it!" and
"Are you lookin' at my bird? D'you want some?"

This was 1980, mind.

I've met a few Sharon and Tracy's in Crawley! Always up for a good time.

No abuse but a question. Surely you knew about the flight path before you moved in to where you live ?

Better realigning a 2nd runway at Gatwick, than a third at Heathrow. how anyone can complain re noise at an Airport that has been there since before the 2nd World War, its a bit like moving next to a farm and complaining about the smell of the animals.
Early 30s - run from the Beehive which is now managed offices

So you've got to be in excess of 90 years old to remember no airport being there. Moral of the story, if you don't like aircraft noise don't buy a house near an airport.

The problem with more passengers via Gatwick is there isn’t enough train of road capacity to get people there - already the trains in peak season are full, it only takes one cancellation to make it a disaster and the m23 isn’t big enough.

Also I think it is acceptable to complain about the noise, I’m in East Sussex no where near Gatwick and I can hear a plane right now.

Places like Copthorne have never suffered from airplane noise as the planes are too low and go over Shipley bridge - people who moved there in the last 50 years knew it was quiet are now going to be devastated by airplane noise if it goes ahead.

No it’s not. They want to use the northern runway and move 15m north. The northern runway has always been there.
