My surname is Hall. When I married my Dutch ex, we considered a double barrel surname but...

Hall is pronounced in Dutch as Hol - which colloquially in Rotterdam (where she was from) means bumhole. Her Dutch surname was van den Heuvel (from the hills), so Hall-van den Heuvel (in Dutch pronunciation at least) would have made us Mr and Mrs Bumhole from the Hills. We gave it a miss
