Got a Liverpool supporting mate who last came to Albion home games in the 1980s but has been asking me about season ticket prices at Falmer.

Weird isn't it, having other people showing an interest in our team.

i do not care who wins or loses in the premiership, dont follow anybody at all, but i still watch as many games as i can cos i still enjoy football in any form, as long as its a good match im happy.

sometimes the game is shit, sometimes it is class, but i still find myself wanting to watch as much as i can.

i prefer la liga games tho as a neutral, the 2 games on last night were QUALLAAA

Following the most abject display in history in the recent World Cup, you would have thought that these so called top players would have kept a lower profile...but no...we have this treadmill of greed still turning. The sight of Rooney sipping champagne on holiday, whilst his teammates grind out points at Stoke is truly sickening. There is no remorse, no guilt, no responsibility.
We have an expensively paid Administrator claiming he is seeking the best deal at Portsmouth for its creditors yet bringing in loanees on £20k a week. Players retained every penny of their fat wages ( up to £80k per week )whilst the tax-man lost £35million and every small business that has loyally served Portsmouth FC was screwed.
Football is like the EU....there is no stopping the gravy-train...too many getting too fat at the expense of the rest. There is no leadership at the top. No desire to control and better the game. No desire to analyse and improve. The wrong people in the wrong jobs but all earning big bucks.
Everyone in football is overpaid for what they do....
1) A national manager earning £6m a year for dismal failure.
2) The FA, for allowing ' grass-roots ' money to lavishly fund the pensions of con-men purporting to be International managers.
3) The head of the PFA earning a seven figure salary for sitting behind a desk and pretending to represent the interests of professional sportsmen, who pay a fortune to avaricious agents who also represent them.
4) Players earning fortunes in a team game. A team game ffs...when they rely totally on the efforts of their teammates but all earn different wages. There is a good argument for paying them all the same money. Hart couldn't play centre forward and Rooney couldn't play in goal.
Can football continue this upward spiral...well as long as Sky continue to pour millions into the game and mega wealthy people back clubs I suppose so. But like many of the posters before, I have a feeling that interest at the highest level has peaked. You can only have your noses rubbed in it for so long before you turn off and turn away.

I think you've summed the situation up rather well, people are getting really sick of hearing how some players can't get by on the sort of weekly wage that usually doubles the average annual wage.

You're right edna. Like many others I served my time in the trenches - the highs: FA Cup in 83, the promotions, the play offs etc and the lows: too many to mention but a personal one for me was standing in a puddle in the away end at Woking watching us struggle to get through to the next round of the cup :lolol:

The last couple of years have been amazing with the stadium and Gus etc which will help to get the 'converts' and new fans along to The Amex. These people are just as important as us oldies who still carry the psychological scars caused by Barry Lloyd

The trouble with the Premiership is it has lost the contact with the people that matter, the fans. It is so money oriantated now, fans are begining to realise this now and turning their back on the league. After all we are the ones that pay the money to go and watch our team.

I cancelled my Sky sports 2 years ago and every few months I get someone from Sky asking me why I dont subscribe to the Sports Channels, they offer me 6 months half price and I tell them the same each time.
" I only want to watch proper English football and not 90% foreign, prima donnas diving and cheating all game. I prefer to spend my money lower down the pyramid thanks."

But they don't matter, that's the point.

Prem clubs get more of their money from TV rather than from paying punters. I remember talking to a Man U marketing bod about five years ago and he boasted that 99% of Man U "supporters" had never set foot in Old Trafford - that was seen as a really good thing.
