For the past 30 years my football watching process includes ALWAYS allocating sufficient attentional resources to the linesman's flag to be aware that it has been raised before the ball reaches the back of the net.
I can't recall witnessing a flag that was so late it came significantly after the ball hit the back of the net. You are, of course, right that it must have happened at least once in 30 years.You've never witnessed a late flag!?
