There should be a fourth option - money purchase personal pernsion scheme. I'd expect a lot of people on here might have one.

SIPP split between german property, polish property, a couple of trust investments and a Fidelity online managed plan. makes pension planning almost fun

I did have a final salary scheme which as I got made redundant after 50, is already paying out.

It's something I really must sort out. I have an old frozen company one with Amex and an old frozen company one with Xerox, but no active pension scheme right now. Getting a bit late now as I'm 42.

I can't believe how many people don't have any pension at all...

Sadly a lot of people and it is another disaster waiting to happen.

I am sure all us pension paying people who also pay taxes will help foot the bill though.
