For me it’s a pen. As the earlier one on Haaland was IMO too.

But overall I just really hate VAR. Football will always be subjective as this proves, it has no place in the game.
By the same argument, is Harland's challenge on Webster legal?
Shoulder to shoulder?
Never ever but it's Citeh so given. Yet a much lighter challenge on Dunk later on is a foul?

My exact thoughts as the foul on Dunk was given.

If it takes two minutes of checking and then another 45 secs for the ref to check on the monitor how is it a clear and obvious error?
It may not have been clear and obvious enough - not the worst ever mistake - but should it have been given in the first place? No.

The decision took a long time because the ball didn't go out of play. Could have been embarrassing if we had scored then!
Bernard bought the pen. Hung his leg out on Dunk. Typical home decision.

Not sure - as they didn't wait for the ball to go out of play anyway - he blew the whistle so that he could go and have a look.

It had nothing to do with the ball going out of play or not, as soon as the ref got told he needed to check the screen he stopped the game.

True, it went on for so long I assumed it had not been given. I think ref got worried because the play went on so long. Dunk went mad when he blew the whistle.

Probably not a pen but I'm less concerned about the decisions today which were all debatable at least (although took far too long) than I was by the performance of the ref against Forest which I still thought was one of the most inept I've ever seen.

Yes for me. Bernardo makes the most of it, but the leg is hanging out there, blocking his path.

Should VAR have given it is another question. According to the guardian live feed:

Penalty for Manchester City!

There’s a lengthy, protracted VAR check going on at the Etihad Stadium after an apparent foul by Lewis Dunk on Bernardo Silva. That’s a weird one – there was a VAR check, play resumed and then paused again so the VAR check could be resumed. Dunk is adjudged to have fouled the Manchester City man.

If there was a check and play resumed, why did they go back to it?
There's a big question needs answering there.

Same with the Gross booking.

shouldnt be. however its a letter of the law foul, because he leaves his leg there for a contact.

and i could see that in one viewing. so what is the issue with VAR, they are deciding if contact or not?

I think if it was the other way and our player went down and the penalty wasn’t given - we would all be saying we were robbed - for me it’s a penalty, of course Silva has looked for it, but again if it were our player, I wouldn’t be complaining

At first I thought: ah that is a penalty kick. But the more I saw the replay the more you see the Manchester player kick his leg out at Dunk to create contact and the more I think it is obviously not a penalty kick. Why can the referees not see this!?
If Dunk had not been there and their player had performed the same leg motion he would have fallen over.

Commentator on my stream saw it straight away.
