On the assumption that the chickpea isn't really a "pea", I'll go with mushy peas Nottingham-stylee, I.e. Out if a polystyrene cup with a generous measure of (vinegar-based) mint sauce stirred through them. I also agree with the mushy pea / brown sauce sandwich as a great delicacy.
Whichever way though Peas are good, Peas are good....
Raw garden peas - nice, on their own or in a salad
Wasabi coated peas - great with a pint
Steamed/boiled petit pois or garden peas with mash and gravy and some dead animal - nice
Marrowfat and mushy peas - YUCK ! Disgusting look, taste and texture......
