I am totally at a loss as to what to do with my vote in this election. I really fail to see what the point of the commissioners really is, I am not aware that the public were clamouring for an elected overseer of the police. It has yet to be adequately explained to me what powers the PCC's have and whether that would help the police in anyway. I've looked at the blurbs on the My PCC website and can nothing but vague promises to cut bureaucracy, use the word community a lot and to keep Sussex Safe.
I value my vote, and I always do vote at local, national and european levels, but i am contemplating spoiling the ballot for this one as I am yet to be convinced about the need for a PCC in the first place.
There should be another box on your ballot paper that says none of the above, if you don't believe any of the candidates are fit to be the local PCC there's nothing you can do.
I thought this was going to be about my old school...
Not only are we having a pointless election, but Dorothy Stringer School is having to shut for the day to accomodate it. That is quite ridiculous. An entire school closing for what will be a 10% turn out in a pointless exercise of bureaucracy that introduces politics into something that should be apolitical. Madness.

This, added to which I am against the (further) politicisation of the police force.
Bloody hell - I need a beer - two things we agree on in a day !
Put your brain back in, and you'll eventually get used to it.
I don't think that means much.....
My thoughts too, however - the police are not politicised. So it wouldn't make matters much worse if a copper was to be PCC.....it certainly doesn't mean anything good. Having a PCC that is or has been plod already negates the role quite frankly when part of the idea is to get away from the institutionalised power at the moment.
