PC problem...help please

Morning.

I know we have lots of PC experts on here (I thought I was a bit of an expert but this is baffling)

A lady friend of mine can log in to her PC then she is greeted by this screen (see attached)

The wallpaper has changed from an Audi to Thai writing to this...

None of the wallpapers have been loaded or selected by her

I am 99% sure its a virus but what one?

Right click will not work....and the main windows screen never appears..

Yes its been on and off many times!!!!!!

Have you tried loading in safe mode (with networking), or last known good configuration?
Should at least be able to get on and run a scanner.

Malwarebytes
download this, its free, then run an update to get the latest version and run a full scan. This should pull up any nasties

Thanks - a useful link

I've just run this an it found 32 threats on my pc  and showed that my previous anti malware software was pretty useless

I wanted to ask about registry mechanic / registry booster, does it make much of a difference and therefore worth using?, is this something anyone has used? and is there a full free version available anywhere if it is a good thing to use?

BEFORE you get malwarebytes, get rKill. Some malware won't let you run malwarebytes while its running, and rkill is a simple tool that will simply kill all suspected malware. Then run malwarebytes, and then install an AV.

The only thing I know about the Registry is not to touch it unless you know exactly what you're doing - personally i'd steer well clear of any of these "registry" enhancer programs

This. you can seriously cock up some serious shit with the registry.
