I remember when he had that nervous breakdown years back when his business was in trouble. Hasn't got the mental capacity therefore for me. However he did show the qualities necessary to be a top flight footballer when nobbing his wife's identical twin sister. Seem to remember them being quite fit too.

Were they before or after Gayle? I mean Gayle's first spell, not her second, third or fourth efforts.

Problem with Robinson is that he just hoofs it up the pitch everytime so doesn't fit in with our game. Not sure how easy it would be to train that out of him.....

If true, the lowest save to shot ratio doesn't sound good. Remember it's a ratio so rest of team don't have much to do with that. Arguably, that makes his case even worse, with loads of shots he has loads of practice to make saves :D

I'm not convinced he's the right keeper for where we're going and how we play (although clearly better than the incumbents!!)

I think that Paul Robinson is one of the best keepers in the country so much so that I think Hodgson should ask him to reconsider his stance on being an England back up for the Euros and would expect him to be snapped up by another Prem Club.

Good player - feel wages may become something of an issue though
Likewise Heskey, Goodwillie, Jamie O'Hara or any of the other players from Wolves or Blackburn that somebody on here thinks "Could do a job" - and yes I know Heskey plays for neither but there seems to be a move afoot to sign him up too !
I think that there's a fair chance Gus will sign someone that we've heard of - possibly a "name" but it's only a chance.
Let's consider the money we're going to get in each week - say we attract a standard 25000 punters each week at an average price of £30. Over 23 league games that works out to £17.25 M. That works out at an average wage per week of just over £330K - now that's for all the squad
Say we have a squad of 25 that works out at just over £13k per week each
Now I know that I'm erring on the side of caution and I know that not everyone would be on the same wages but can anyone honestly see Mr Heskey signing for £13k a week ???

Not a bad shout. No way is Kelvin Davies a PL keeper.

But he has just won promotion from this division. So if he didn't fancy playing second fiddle at his age and still wanted first team football, without uprooting his family and moving far away. He could be between the sticks for us next year.

Definitely after Gail.

Or do you mean Howard Gayle, that other Blackburn Rovers legend?

An awful lot of assumptions in that.

Don't it make ya feel good?

Weirdly, I was looking at this thread, thinking about the song and about to post that exact sentence just then. Spooky!

If the gate money goes on players wages, what pays for all the other staff and all the club and stadium running costs?

Well, revenue is not just gate receipts, there is commercial revenue, TV money, etc.
