Speaks volumes on how far we have come, that people on here are not screaming "sign him up"...Never seems to have really setteled anywhere for more than a season. Dont think he has a attitude problem or is a problem player(could be wrong). At only 25 maybe he just needs to settle at a club to bring out his best form. Imo I think he is a top end championship player but it would seem he just needs to find the right club to get on with his carrer.

Surprised we still have threads like these. We fans never have a clue who would merit a place on the Gus bus - we just aren't smart enough to work it out.

A few years back, this guy was an absolute cut above the rest of the squad, hence why he won the player of the season award (if i remember correctly). He wouldn't walk into this team based on how well the back four have done, but with Gus coaching him he could be one hell of a player for us. We've come along way, but to suggest players of his quality are no longer good enough for us on the back of a good half season is a bit OTT IMO. Remember what the majority thought of El-Abd at this time, McShane was MILES above Adam at that point.

Fair point. It looked as if the Prem was a step too far (or maybe a step too soon) for McShane - who knows what Gus could make of him. I'll stick with "nevger go back" - the lad was a legend - as things are now, they always will be. McShane in the 90th and all that!

His career has never progressed in the way we thought it would. Everytime I see him on TV it's because he's screwed up again.

He'd stroll into our team, far better player than Greer and El-Abd. Proven at Championship level and is versatile as well.
Except whenever I reviewed the previous weekend's goal, it was always the man he was marking who got free to score... He was a ballwatcher - never my player of the season, and never going to be good enough at top level!

But he was a 100%er and he did get the winning goal at selhurst.

Completely and utterly ruined as a player by that guru of man-management, Roy Keane.
