Batted 340 mins, and saved it for England. Well done. :thumbsup:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Glad we drew, but it does somewhat paper over the cracks that our bowling attack is absolute GASH

true...but consider that most of the top order batsmen gave their wickets away in the first innings and the aussies could only take 7 wickets on a 5th day pitch. despite what the bandwagon jumping media may say, their attack isn't that great either.

mitchell johnson...talk about GASH especially when the pressure was on late in the day.

and...oh yeah...hats off to Colly, Swann, Anderson and Panesar. maybe England need to rethink that batting buddy idea and get the tail-enders to teach the 'proper' batsmen how to value their wicket.

When your opening bowling attack is Jimmy Anderson & Stuart Broad you know you're in trouble. Anderson will bowl one good innings this series, which will keep him in the team. Broad will be "one for the future who can bat a bit" & in the meantime will continue to bowl long-hops for the Ozzies to batter to the fence.

What concerns me is that 4 Ozzies hit 100's in their innings. I don't care what the pitch is like, that's shit bowling. This pitch was meant to be good for England as it was meant to be slow. The spinners did f*** all (well our spinners anyway), and the Ozzies showed how to adapt.

i wasn't really disagreeing with you just stating my opinion that the Aussie attack isn't exactly shit hot either and, if our batsmen get their heads out of their arses, we might just have a chance in this series.

i'm a recently converted Jimmy Anderson fan and have a bit more faith in him than you but i will say that his recent good form could disappear far quicker than the few years it took to arrive.

agree on Broad - he's just not an opening bowler at the moment. he needs to be used in a holding role in the middle overs but Strauss seems to think he's a wicket taker.

although it'd be a bit tough on Onions (and Monty who will undoubtedly get the chop for Lord's) i think we need to give Harmison another shot at the Aussies. unfortunately, he looks like the closest thing we have to strike bowler at the moment.

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
I would open with Harmy and Flintoff bowling with Anderson first change.

Broad and Swann are on thin ice also, Rashid and Sidebottom for variety must be close again.

I would even consider Rashid over Swann, Swann deserves another punt though.

although if Flintoff's knee is as bad as reports suggest, that might not be an option. will probably be Harmison in for Flintoff and Onions in for Panesar for Lord's.

Harmison is only in the squad as cover for Flintoff, meaning that either one of them plays but not both of them.

Given that fact, I'd play Harmison and Anderson with Onions as main second line bowler (ahead of Broad). Panesar should be dropped and Flintoff should be rested because he clearly isn't 100% fit.
