he answered every question like a politician. Not that I'm surprised about that it's Barber after all.

Long thought this about PBOBE. Can talk a lot without actually telling you anything other than reinforcing his point he wanted to get across.

I once spent a couple of hours with Tony Bloom on the train on the way back from Forest away. I asked him so many questions, about everything I ever wanted to know about the Albion. Even though he had polished off a large number of cans of cider, he still managed to answer every one of them in an engaging and friendly way, without actually giving anything remotely sensitive or controversial away. It's a serious skill to be able to do that. A skill I have never quite nailed.

If that had been me, it would all have come out. Detailed recollections of arguments with RDZ, a full, unabridged list of candidates for the manager role, complete with percentage probabilities of success, compensation/buy out fees and predicted salary packages.

Why do I listen to Paul Barber?

I know he's not going to tell me anything juicy, but I still tune in anyway on the off chance he might let something slip.

It's a bit like being a Brighton fan. It's the hope that keeps you going.
It’s reassuring us (y)that everything is ok

I have always had trouble remembering not to call a complete arse a complete arse. I'm even on some video somewhere in Holland singing loudly at the the top of my voice that 'Richard is a wanker, la la la la', and so on....

Well - he was. So I have to say it!

Keeping your actual thoughts to yourself is, as you say, a rare skill.
