Lewes approved this plan - B&H turned down the hotel.

I'm not overly bothered by the approval other than it shows the hierocracy of LDC. The students living there are going to have sooooooo much fun on match days :ROFLMAO:

No, Lewes REFUSED the student accommodation proposals, this decision was appealed and the appeal was allowed against the decision of Lewes.

PBOBE has said a few times there's exciting news about Bennet's field. I do wonder if TB may indeed try to buy it himself (not the club) as he does own a lot of property himself.

Not sure, but from that picture it looks like we’d have a fair shot of hosting a clay court tennis tournament!
Reminiscent of the old Patcham Fawcett 'red-gra'.

I can only imagine the disruption this will cause on match days whilst being built.
I'd imagine that the planning approval will have stipulations about what works can take place on match days. To be honest, works within the site boundaries should have no impact on Albion's needs or activities. Access / deliveries, etc might, but as long as they keep everything clear form mid afternoon on a mid-week match day, its unlikely to be a big issue. Weekends won't be a problem - most major sites are shut, or down to very limited works.

Lewes DC did actually refuse permission. The developers appealed and a public enquiry was held, and the inspector has overturned the decision. I doubt Lewes District Council are happy about this at all. I don't know what options, if any, they have now.
Fair enough. Seems like a bizarre decision then.

Yep, agree. The access is going to be a nightmare.View attachment 169313
If I am reading that right is it possible that effectively gives a second access out of the car park so might be quicker to get buses and other traffic out then it used to be? But this may knock on to a delay coming out of the Uni car parks on the other side of the A27.

Whilst it might potentially be possible it's certainly not on the plans and would definitely cause issues for the roundabout on the other side of the bridge over the A27.

Why is the appeal 'allowed' rather than 'upheld'. 'Allow'ing the appeal makes it sound like all they've decided is that Bennett can appeal to the council to change their mind, rather than an overruling of the council.

How in the name of sanity did that monstrosity get approved and the hotel get turned down?
You need to find the artistic impression of the Albion's plans.
This looks stunning when compared to 'some sea freight containers stacked up'.

I don't think there is any access between the car parks and the student housing development looking at that picture posted. It would appear the access from The Drove just leads to a road in front of the accommodation for drop offs etc. The rest of the area surrounding the development looks like it's walk ways.

Just to support what other were saying, no there is no access between stadium carparks and the new development's access road. Could there potentially be? Possibly, but a big part of the development's pitch is car free (there are some accessibility bays but thats it). In fact there's a pretty hefty cycle storage facility planned from what I've seen. So I don't think car/coach access from the Amex is on the cards at all
