The only 'chick flick' I will give the time of day. Classy performance by Swayze. The bad, misunderstood guy that wins over the doubters and issues the immortal line 'Nobody puts my baby in the corner'.

He was also pretty smooth in Point Break!

Is the line not

"Nobody puts baby in the corner"?

It is on Fox News. Always liked that guy.

The Fox News website did question the story saying they cannot get an official statement from Swayze's people and that the star had looked very well on recent sightings. They have now removed that part of the story and are just reporting what the Enquirer said.

Oh no, not another Dean Cox thread!

You would think that there would be an official statement by now. Hmmm....

“Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and is currently undergoing treatment." Patrick’s physician Dr. George Fisher said. “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic. Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family.”

I'm relieved about that Everest. Thats good news.

Personally, I found the death of Christopher Reeve quite upsetting because he was the first film star I remember going to see as a kid at the cinema for the Superman films. Older filmstars have come and gone, but he was the first who I felt was one of "my generation" of film stars when I was growing up, who had died before his time, and I regarded him with a great deal of affection.

I really hope Patrick Swayze makes a recovery, because he's one of the 80's film stars who I feel I've grown up with. Someone like him dying somehow brings the realisation of my own mortality that bit too close for comfort.

Serves me right for directly quoting from a journo hack. Come on Paddy prove them wrong.
