I need to get a passport sorted pretty quickly but because of work commitments I won't be able to get to a Passport Office. Has anybody used one of those companies that you send all the forms to and they basically do all the leg work? I've checked my usual sources such as Which.com and Martin Lewis' website but there are no recommendations on either. A google search brings up a number of companies but I'm reluctant to shell out the cash without knowing for sure if they're legit. Please help oh wise sages of NSC.

How many weeks til you need it?
If it's over 2 weeks then use Post Office Check and Send, it has a 2 week turnaround.
Otherwise it would be an expensive premium service, if needed pronto.

Well I need to go away on the 12th June which is exactly 2 weeks away so I'll need to use a premium service. Just don't really know which company to use.

as 10cc say, not in hove
see my thread about a month ago, i had exactly the same problem as you, but only a week.

options:

one week post office should be fine for you, or

pay £25 and use travcour (?) see the thread for details and you'll get it back in about 4 days. i was seriously impressed, even though i only found them on google....

I would have said June 12th was exactly three weeks away - which does give you more time...
