This is true (to some extent). The u9 team my son plays for, always build from the back and I'd say 9/10 teams they play launch the ball for some goal hanger to chase.

It's amazing to watch u9s pass the ball around confidently though, and yes I am convinced it is the way to play football.

It'll change when they start playing 11-a-side (sadly)

How do you get Under 9s teams to do anything other than have everyone chase the ball wherever it happens to go?

Don't know what these comments are about the poor pitch. This was one we came across in Greece in 2004 - so the one these boys are on is presumably their national stadium.
