I sat next to his missus on train back from an away game when we were in the championship and said the same thing re a bit more pace.

At the time she said Pascals dad (who couldn’t speak any English) had flown over the morning of every home and away game since he joined us.

I commented on that at the time: "He just doesn't stop".

I seemed to spend quite a lot of the second half just watching him. He's always thinking and directing - his football brain is something else. Jack Hinshelwood will be learning a lot from him - Pascal was often gesturing to him where he should be to give a passing option.:

There was at game recently where our defence were lining up to defend a corner, only the ball had gone for a throw in and Pascal was the only one who noticed. He was running around signalling to everyone it was a throw, whoever we were playing would have had a free cross if it wasn't for his footballing brain.

He did the same again against Spurs when they got a corner after scoring their second. He was switched on to the threat and was making sure players got where they needed to be so we didn't repeat the errors that led to that goal.

Others have shined brighter, sometimes briefly, such as Ward, Lawrenson, Vicente, Murray, Zamora, and more, no doubt; but in terms of all round football brain, phenomenal consistency, and regular doses of flair, I think you're right.

I met Maty Ryan on a tube after we played Chelsea once. Murray used to go up north sometimes after away games etc - if club say it’s ok it’s sometimes done and obvs they have no cars with them as got the coach there.

Yes I remember that too, I was yelling for us to get the ball into him (not that they'd have heard me all the way from the northern end of the west upper), his intelligence is on another level.

In our first season in the Premier League he was the stand out player.

When he’s out injured he’s very badly missed

So in terms of a player who has probably been our best for the Albion for six and a half seasons and this at the top level of World football - then who has ever been better?

I have to say Pascal is truly an Albion legend. He's consistently done it for us in the Premier league, never once thrown his toys about, scored some crucial goals and has set many more up.

If there is any better value (for the time a player has been at the club) and for what I believe was a £3m signing, he is pound for pound exceptional value (and all round good egg). No other Albion player (bar Dunky) has given the club so much for so relatively little.

I know we earned more in fees for many other players such as Moises but Pascal has consistently been a top performer for nearly 7 seasons.
