If your not in colours how can they prove you are going to the match?

It isn't difficult to check registrations, against names on tickets. Why not use the free buses and trains?

There's a slight difference in the width of the roads though. And the amount, and the number of parking spaces available.
Mabye in the immediate vacinity of the stadium, but if you park 15 minutes walk away then there's no real difference

When I go to Withdean, I always park in Brangwyn Drive. Its not the closest that you can park, but not too far.

Alright, its my wifes Aunts house we park at. But how would the council know whether we were just going to football or "legitimate" visitors? How much has it cost the club anyway?

But i like to get home for my tea and don't want to have to share the peasant wagons with a bunch of football louts, I need to leave my seat 15 mins early as it is and get in the way of everyonelse by standing on the running track, Then i can get away and out the area before the traffic buiolds up.

It's perfectly simple you see. ;)

Fair enough.

This issue has a lot to do with the Albion and its supporters being seen to be good neighbours. Part of the idea was to show the 'Good citizens of Falmer' what nice people we are. Its just a shame that they're such a bunch of total wankers.

Exactly how is this monitored and by whom?
There are regular surveys, undertaken by Council officers, with the results reported to the City Council's Environment Committee.

The 2005 Reports are here:-

Have you seen the parking restrictions around the City of Manchester Stadium?

The reality of the planning system these days is that ALL major developments have parking restrictions imposed upon them.

Most of the costs of Arsenal's new stadium are being spent on transport improvements, not facilities at the ground.

That may be the case but it's still a joke in my opinion, they don't seem to bat a eyelid when the likes of Tescos or Asda give the council a backhander, they can't get these supermarkets up quick enough.

It's not backhanders, Goring. It's the fact that Tesco and Asda employ armies of transport consultants to prepare planning applications that comply strictly with the Planning Policy Statement (PPS13) that the government has laid down as a requirement for all major developments.

Thanks LB. I must admit, I've never seen any of the 'spotters' in the cordon on a matchday; perhaps they do their spotting once the game has started & count the number of cars parked there.

I do feel that the parking restrictions seem to be austere and unrealistic to police/maintain. What's to say a car parked in the cordon on a matchday has anything to do with the football? It could be a relative of a resident.

I do understand the 'good neighbour' message the club needed to deliver when starting out at Withdean but time has proved through the litter patrols, lack of agro, etc that the residents really did have nothing to fear and the same should go for the parking aspects too. If a car is parked illegally, it should be towed (and the announcements over the tannoy supports this).

Quite seriously ...

NAME JUST ONE.

Having worked in the planning system for 25 years, I can say that I have NEVER come across a local authority that doesn't have effective checks in place to weed out corruption before it does any damage.

I've certainly come across a tiny number of small scale crooks who are under the impression that the planning system might be oiled by back-handers, but these ignoramuses are invariably seen off at the first opportunity.
