Just got a text from the club!

We have permission! :clap2:

Now lets get the damn things installed. I can't believe that it will take another 6 months to get them in.

Before the plan can be put into action, the Albion must submit various documents to the council, including a detailed park-and-ride plan. The scheme will be reveiwed after 6 months.

Yes it will, but the old away stand capacity will also be increased by extending around towards V block.

So, is the East Stand being extended first? Presumably it's the West Stand that will take the long time, as it involves concrete and permanent foundations. How many seats will be in place when we play Phalarse and how many will we be allowing them?

I think there's a grant from the Football Foundation involved.

The main issue will be cashflow, because the seats will basically be self-financing.

2000 extra tickets @ £15 each (allowing for concessions, etc) = £30,000 extra income per match, or £750,000 over a whole season.

BBC Teletext is saying that some of the extra seats will be put in when the rest return from Scotland. They also say that the rest of the work will take over six months. Strange that nobody else has that story though.

As long as we can fill them of course. The nimbys will have a field day if we don't.

I still can't understand why it will take 6 months... it was originally envisaged that the work would be completed over the close-season, which is a lot less than 6 months by my reckoning...

Why can't the club prioritise the installation of the seats over the nice-to-have bits of the development?... just a thought...

The club need to promote the availability of the extra seats, but I don't see any reason why we can't fill them... too late for the NIMBY's to make an issue of this even if they aren't filled, IMHO...

It's more complicated than just putting a load of extra seats at the west end of the ground.

Bear in mind that these are seats for away fans. There'll need to be segregated access (which means a whole new entrance area will have to be constructed, presumably to the west of the Sportsman). The project also includes some new permanent facilities that will remain (for the use of the Athletics Clubs) even when we move to Falmer.

Yes, but why does it take 6 months now, when it was going to be done in about half that time in the close-season?...
