2800 away fans.
The capacity is just under 25,000

Its not. You've had a crowd of more than 25k this season. Its 26,309.

You're averaging 24,815 so far this season, which is around 94% of capacity. Unlike your ground, that's not too shabby to be fair.

So how did you get 20% empty then ?

Apologies, I forgot the segregation area.
So getting back on track, only the top / local away fans sell out their allocation, so that would make up the 6% shortfall.

Even if its a given that there is potential................. there's no getting away from the fact its in Croydon.

Unless of course, American investors could be persuaded of the potential of the "franchise" rather than the current "Stadium" and "Fanbase"

Thames Valley Eagles ? or Buckingham Palace perhaps ??

Croydon is getting a massive regeneration boost with the iceing on the cake being a billion plus Westfield shopping centre . I'm sure this is another factor with the two Americans coming on board . Just think in a few years time you can jump on a train straight to east Croydon do a bit of retail and maybe catch a premier game in our new enlarged stadium , I'm told there will be loads of tickets going spare .

This of course is a factor that was never taken into account when the old "you couldn't even sell out Withdean" line is trotted out.

My original point was about the lack of sell outs at the withdean btw .

Strange I know but some people don't like paying to watch games in dreadful grounds that are completely unsuitable for the modern game. Funny really: I'd have thought Palace would know that better than most.

What the hell does a shopping centre have to do with Palace's ability to attract fans. There's eff off massive Westfields in Stratford and Shepherds Bush but you don't see them queueing out the door at Leyton Orient or QPR. Maybe your 50,000 attendance coincided with the Whitgift Centre opening....

Those wankers Charlton tried it at Brighton when we were at Gillingham with their posters advertising free coach travel to The Valley (they also did the same at Gillingham to Gills fans) when they were in the prem. If you dont believe me then ask Dan Tester as he remembers as well.

Thats another reason why I have NO TIME for Charlton and dont understand all the bum licking regarding them. That and the John Robinson saga.

Sorry i digress.

All of this is correct and mirrors my own view of them as a club. My strong dislike of them started when we arrived at Pissfield and that happened.

Not sure why he's bleating about the 2 million plus around south London as most are foreign or plotless criminals who have no interest in football....this is a fact he doesn't see.

Hes being a bit short sighted to ignore the other London clubs just because theres a river in the way. We have already gone into their territory to tap into their young local players, if they think that Tony is just going to stand back and let Palace just take some of our potential fan base they are going to be in for a shock. We are working really hard as Albion in the community to become the team of sussex (we are giving people a lot more than just a shiny new stadium, people seem to ignore that), we ain't going to just roll over.

Then you have Portsmouth say what you like about them as a club, but they are averaging the same attendences in League 2 as Palace was in the Championship. He is being very short sighted, thats all I can say.
