Listening to this interview genuinely had me welling up this morning.
Shes done brilliantly at these games, finished off with an amazing dive yesterday, and will be a force in the sport for a few years to come I reckon.

Had 5 Live on in the car this morning and they said that today's GB rep in the male skateboarding is a 51 year old. I assumed that this was either a typo or had been mis-read and that they meant 15 year old, so I checked and it's true: Andy MacDonald really is the coolest 51-year-old in the world.

There is a photo of him with the other GB skateboarders (all circa 16 years old) which is good value. Can't find it now but it is probably in this thread somewhere!

Well yeah, as said yesterday speed climbing is not for me either but enjoy boulder and lead.

Final now.

You could say that about half the sports in the Olympics depending on your own personal criteria.
Which other ones are you thinking about, this is the shittiest one I have seen so far. f***ing dull and very little skill required imo other than having the ability to climb like a monkey :lolol:

Be much better as tree climbing imo!

Which are worse?

Dressage - horse dancing and has we have seen recently the potential for animal cruelty. Not withstanding GBs success I would get rid of all equestrian events for the same reason - the horse does all the work and is always at risk of injury. A sport which should be consigned to the past.

My wife’s favourite event as an ex rider and having run a riding school. She was devastated to see the news about Du Jardin having been a big fan and went to the London Olympics. No way would she ever whip a horse.

I'd also get rid of dressage - but largely because it is utterly SHIT.

And that's not from a position of ignorance - I've sat and endured (far too) many dressage tests live, at CCI 5* Events, and at the Olympics.

I think the video of her whipping the horse is the give away.

I don’t think you quiet understand the concept of what a sport is.

Would I be right in thinking you've never tried climbing, bouldering etc.?
Which are worse?
Personally it's not the sort of thing I worry about. I guess I'd dump the dressage and some of the equestrian events if I had to drop something. I tend to be slightly dubious about some of the events based on judges scores as well but I think that's just jealousy on my part at never having been one of the cool kids with a skateboard or a bmx bike.

There's skill in all these things.
