We are having another superb day!
I enjoyed watching that earlier. Whenever there's gymnastics on and it gets a bit exciting, especially if it's a potential GB medal, I can't help but think that the BBC commentator's voice sounds like he compering at a northern working-mens club on a Friday night - Jerry St Clair style. She look soooo happy. Fantastic
Remember Atlanta when we only won 1?9 Golds now, that should push us up the table
Yep, above France now - would be great to finish as the top European Country.9 Golds now, that should push us up the table
I am no Tory fan, but credit were credit's, due John Major allowing the National Lottery providing part of it was to go to fund team GB so athletes could go full time and compete on a level playing field. Genius move.Remember Atlanta when we only won 1?
Yes, the lottery starting in 1994 was a game changer. Atlanta was a bit too soon, but we started to see it from Sydney onwards. Got to credit the management and targetting of lottery funding as well. It could easily have gone into a black hole but it does seem to have been spent in all the right places.I am no Tory fan, but credit were credit's, due John Major allowing the National Lottery providing part of it was to go to fund team GB so athletes could go full time and compete on a level playing field. John Major was the sort of Tory I could consider voting for!I am no Tory fan, but credit were credit's, due John Major allowing the National Lottery providing part of it was to go to fund team GB so athletes could go full time and compete on a level playing field. Genius move.
Steady on now!John Major was the sort of Tory I could consider voting for!
Thought the BBC described it well:Not sure when it's on over the next few days but keep an eye out for kayak cross, looks like it has the potential to be the greatest find of this Olympics for pure chaos
I believe it starts today with the time trial, heats are on Sunday and the knock out stage Monday. I hope BBC or Eurosport show it as it’s carnage.Thought the BBC described it well:
The gates open. That is about the only certainty.
There is the briefest moment of serenity before they do. A time for deep breaths to calm rapidly beating hearts as the adrenaline soars.
Then, all hell breaks loose.
What unfolds after the ramp-drop is dynamic disorder - a confused kaleidoscope of brightly coloured boats powered by paddles brandished frantically, tearing through unforgiving white water.
It is brutal, full-contact, high-octane fun which, for good measure, demands competitors must also submerge themselves to complete a 360-degree boat roll.
Apologies if already posted.
Always did love Murray’s darkish humour…
Yes looking forward to seeking Keely and Kerr progress.Feels like ‘Olympics proper’ now the track athletes are involved.
Looking forward to seeing Keeley Hodgkinson go in the first round of the 800m at 6:45pm
Well, 28 of them tested positive relatively recently but the IOC accepted their explanation of ‘food contamination’ in a restaurant. Really unlucky how it’s always the Chinese competitors who unwittingly get served dodgy food loaded up with banned performance enhancing substances.Pan Zhale : "not humanly possible" to win that 100m freestyle like he did. Are the Chinese all drug cheats? Seems the other competitors of all nations are a little stand-offish to say the least
Currently 52 countries with no medals at allYep, above France now - would be great to finish as the top European Country.
Talking of which, what's happened to Germany and Spain these days, 3 gold medals between them so far.
Barcelona games, Germany got 33 Gold and Spain got 13
GB got 5
What's changed - Lottery funding I guess?
