Loved the fact the commentary team earlier in the race had said that if there is a gate 2 riders are going for and only 1 can go through first, you'd always bet on that being Tom Pidcock.

I think the French rider had just thought he had Pidcock behind him through that whole section and took his eye off the ball - his own acceleration would have stopped that happening. I think that's why he looked disappointed with himself rather than complaining at the end.

Brilliant by Pidcock though, he risked it all for gold in that moment and fortune favoured the brave!
