Looking forward to another shiny Swedish gold medal today. Hopefully also a new world record, if Duplantis can be arsed.

Probably going to be least exciting olympic gold I've seen Sweden take but fascinating to watch an athlete who is so monstrously far above everyone else in his sport.
Hope you enjoyed that Swanny!

Another World Record for Mondo.

If only Sergei Bubka was 30 years younger. That would be a contest.

Incredible by Keeley.

And amazing pole vaulting considering that for six months a year the bloke’s pole would be iced up and the runway, bar and crashmat would need landing lights.

Let's be honest, really.an American.
Swedish-American.

But I'd rather Sweden got his gold medals than America. :)

"After winning the Jerringpriset as the most popular athlete in Sweden in 2020, Duplantis expressed relief that the Swedish public had accepted and embraced him. During said Olympics, Duplantis also stated that his older brother having great experiences representing Sweden at a youth level and his love for Sweden as a child made his choice very easy but that he also feels a strong bond to Lafayatte."

I'm not sure he's ever spent one winter in Sweden in his life.

Not recently in all likelihood, but here's the reason given:

"Duplantis usually divides his year between winters in Louisiana and summers in Uppsala in Sweden, adapted for when the two climates offer the best possibilities for training."

India is always the one that amazes me! Literally the only sport they are any good at is cricket (unless I’ve forgotten something). With their population it’s madness!

I thought similar of Spain, but do you think all their eggs are firmly in football and tennis? Not much good at much else
I was on holiday in Malaysia last week, and my son asked what sports Malaysia was good at. Had to really think. Maybe table tennis. Badminton? Ummm. Not sure. And that’s a country with a population of around 34m people.

No idea. He has lived here the last couple of years though. But probably avoiding the winters anyway... I would if I could.
