I don't believe in shooting wildlife (except with a camera!)

What about the fact that this particular ‘wildlife’ is an invasive species that is having a major impact on our indigenous wildlife?

I’m buggered to understand how taking pictures of these birds is going to sort this problem out.

Didn't say photographing them would sort anything.
A lot of the negative impacts on indigenous wildlife is not proved yet and largely anecdotal. The RSPB does not think culling them the right thing to do:
https://www.rspb.org.uk/our-work/ou...ive-non-native-species/ring-necked-parakeets/
Although also anecdotal there seems to be evidence that they are providing to be an important food source for raptors such as sparrowhawks and hobbies. With the difficulties our raptors are facing this could be a good thing.
Also they can still be shot under license if causing a problem. The removal of the general license does not stop all culling of birds - it just means that specific licenses have to be applied for.

nice that the raptors can expand their menu to more exotic fare .....rather like us having a kebab or a ruby....

Nestling in green nowhere
We invaded their territory. Btw there is no such thing as a seagull. Herring gulls, black headed gulls, less black backed gull, greater black backed gull etc etc.

Your “common Gull” is the archetypical seagull IMO. All these other “wannabe” seagulls only started coming when we got to the PL.
