1. Clubs relegated from the Premier League to the Championship may accept 100% of the Parachute Payment on offer, but start the new season on -10 points.

2. Clubs relegated from the Premier League to the Championship may accept 50% of the Parachute Payment on offer, but start the new season on -5 points.

3. Clubs relegated from the Premier League to the Championship may decline all Parachute Payments on offer and start the new season on 0 points.

Surely this would be a fairer system than the one currently in place?

I like the principle, but how often does a team with parachute payments finish more than 10 points ahead of the first team who have none? (Waits to be flooded with examples)

This is what I agree with, clubs dropping out of the Championship to League 1 don't receive parachute payments so why should a team that has a £60m cash injection for one season benefit 3 years down the line for financial mismanagement?

As I've suggested previously, the parachute payments should be to pay for existing players' wages and nothing else - not new signings or their wages.

How about only giving a parachute payment if the relegated club can prove it is to cover existing players wages on long term contracts. At least it would stop teams like Blackburn shamelessly blowing it on new acquisitions like Jordan Rhodes!

If financial fair play is brought in and actually works then you can drop the parachute payment but while there are teams spending £60m+ a season there is just no way to compete with them without going into debt(or having a sugar daddy)
