Swindon sitting pretty in League one without a manager.

What's Peter Taylor* up to these days?

*Not the late Peter Taylor

Players were sold without him being informed (namely Matt Richie) and wasn't given money or time to find replacements, they are struggling to fill the subs bench at the moment. I think he has done a fantastic job considering the board not giving him the resources to do it properly. Fair enough, I say!

Player, as in singular.....As for not having the resources,pmsl...yeah ok. He has spent a fortune, over the last two seasons.

Some very one eyed views here. Di Canio seems to be an outspoken man of principle. Matt Ritchie was sold despite alleged assurances from the club that he wouldnt be. Following the imminent sale of the club being agreed, and the previous issue, Di Canio said he was considering his future. New owners wanted him to stay and a restructured pay deal was agreed. This was subject to FL approval which has not been forthcoming. That is why he has resigned.

In recent weeks he paid for pizzas for those that came to clear snow and get a game on and also said he would be willing to pay the wages of a few of their loan players out of his OWN pocket to ensure they stayed for the season. As I say, a man of principle.

Curbishley hasn't managed for FIVE years. Is he still keen on football management?

I find it amazing how many jobs Curbs is always linked too, as you say he hasn't managed for five or six seasons. Why is this?

I sort of imagine when Bayern where eyeing up Pep for the job people in Munich when touting Curbs for the post!

What a wanker. 6th in the table and walks out on his players. Before people harp on about what a fantastic job he has done, remember he has spent a fortune on players and now throws his toys out of the pram. I wouldn't want him within 100miles of this club.

Very much this! With a Fascist cherry on the top.

From the BBC timeline on Swindon:

6 October 2012 - Placed under Football League transfer embargo for breaking limits on wages and fees
31 January - Di Canio attempts to sign three players but Football League refuse to clear the deals

So another manager achieving success by splashing non-existent cash, and throwing his toys out of the pram when he can't buy who he wants. Whatever happened to old-fashioned actual managering

My housemate supports Swindon. Thought he was going to top himself earlier and it'd be a nightmare finding someone to take his room at this time of year.

He may have spent 'a fortune' but he got them promoted and are in the hunt for back-to-back promotions. He's been f***ed about down there and can leave with his reputation as a good manager intact. Normally when managers walk out in a hissy the fans turn on them. Swindon fans seem to empathise with him.

I am beginning to think it might be one big publicity stunt with DI Canio going back when the new owners are in place. It seems like its a hissy fit to the football league, trying to say they are taking to long to approve the takeover.

Really like Di Canio

Fantastic player , real character , has done a great job at Swindon , gets his team playing exciting football.

Wouldn't be against him managing us one day if he progresses

A publicity stunt like that the day before playing promotion rivals who're 1 place and 1 point above you seems a dangerous game to play. You never know though.

Perfect time to sack Poyet and get a man in who REALLY understands football management.
