If you want to live in a country that never benefitted from slavery, then you should have got on Jeff Bezos's rocket. You won't find a home on earth.

I don't want to, I don't think it's double standards, GB does

That was a terrible watch. Not saying this is a one off but like a lot of programmes could have done with showing some of the many examples of how well race horses are looked after in retirement

I watched that and I wish I hadn't! **** we are a horrendous species.

Those stats about the usefulness of animal testing are insane.

Because they are misleading. I have added some comments on the other thread.

No, you're making a ridiculous straw man for the sake of argument. The Albion are funded by gambling and horse racing. Either you're fine with that or you're not?

I think you're making a straw man though. Its akin to people criticising Rashford for having money while he pretends to care about poor people.

I look after four retired racers, rest assured they get a lot of time, attention and love.

It’s all about the yard. The majority of racing yards do care for horses, my wife takes in ex-race horses, normally on permanent loan so the yard can keep track of them. Most of the staff who work on the ground in racing love horses (and bizarrely Jack Russell’s!) and would never see a horse suffer.

Panarama is an investigative journalism show which has rightly highlighted some yards/trainers who clearly value £ over the animal, in my experience this is going to be an absolute minority. This is the case in every industry on the planet.

If we banned horse racing tomorrow what do you think will happen to all these horses?

IMO too many people consider an animal as having human like feelings, they don’t. A horse wants to run with other horses and eat grass, that’s pretty much it. If it can’t run it will become depressed and can even self-harm, so this idea that you could somehow recuperate a horse with a broken leg is utter nonsense, I suspect from someone who has never been near a horse in their life but still obviously an expert.
