To suggest that 30 years of total superiority is down to 10 years of financial mismanagement is ridiculous. We were spending too much which allowed us to sign better players, but we were totally solvent and above-board during the best period of the clubs history. We were one of the top clubs in the country but had to sell our stars in the interest of balancing the books.

The only clutching at straws is by yourself and other deluded Palace fans. For a start where do you get '30 years of total superiority'from? In 1983 we were in THE cup final and Division one. Remind us about your standing and achievements that year. Once again it's of no surprise that a number here and there going amiss is not that important to you.

Perhaps most salient though is the number of times that you use the phrase 'we were'. I implore you to keep writing it, it doesn't half make me and countless other Albion fans happy:) I don't know what the future holds, but if i was a betting man I know where i would put my money regarding the future of our two clubs. You remind me of Liverpool fans wishing desperately for the glory years to return, only, sadly, for you, there never were any glory years.

Generally when talking about the past, "were" is the correct word to use.
For example, Brighton were winning 1-0 against Crystal Palace at the Amex on the 27th of September 2011. Then, Crystal Palace scored twice, before Glenn Murray scored the third to seal the ge. Crystal Palace fans were very happy about this, and still are.

What does the future hold for Palace? No idea, but it almost certainly includes either a trip to the Premier League or a cheque for £20m while waving goodbye to Wilfried and Williams. Remind me - how many times have you been in the Premier League? Unless I am mistaken, poor little Brighton have never been there! :)

Any news on this mysterious 'virus' that has struck the Palace team? They all shitting themselves? Or is it just Dippy Dougie preparing his excuses?
Not sure, but I believe that Steve Coppell has some cream left that may alleviate the symptoms.....

Yes,i agree 'were' is the correct word to use in those cases. However I am of the opinion that in Palace's case 'were' refers to a better place without any inference of things getting better. As to the Premier League I can honestly say that I couldn't care less that we haven't been to 'the promised land'. Perhaps i was too busy protesting about the way unscrupulous businessmen had carved up our club, perhaps i was just enjoying the fact that i still had a football club to support. At least i knew that any relative success we achieved was hard earned and not gained through ill-gotten means.

Only a noddy club like Palace would reduce their capacity for a home semi final and still not be able to sell out.

I also believe that on each occasion Palace have reached the Premier League they have been immediately relegated - so they have never been good enough for the Premier League - you could stick Grimsby in it and they could do no worse than Palace - instant relegation.

For the six millionth time, we sold out last week. Restricted view tickets were released yesterday, and are now all gone too.

Keep telling yourself that, the truth is even 8,000 plastics at the GroupOn Stadium weren't that bothered abut going so left it to the last minute.

Hang on, have Palace sold out or not? Because BY THEIR RULES, either they haven't sold out, so they're a tinpot f***ing joke, or they have sold out, so they're plastics along for the ride and the chance of glory.

I'm confused, which is it?
